BRAIN INJURY SUPPORT GROUPS
Throughout Indiana alone, there are numerous support groups for brain injury survivors. While the majority of those interested in living at Villa Licci are part of these groups, it is not a requirement for residence. Nor is Villa Licci aiming to be a replacement for the support groups. However, we know that true community is built on more than just monthly meetings or occasional get-to-gethers. Therefore, Villa Licci encourages all survivors to remain part of any support groups of their choosing even after moving into the residence.
People with a TBI differ from those with other developmental and cognitive disorders
in that TBI is an aquired injury. Each survivor was living their life a certain way and now they must live differently. This creates a “before and after” to their lives.
